We produce packaging – for food, industrial and special applications – with a low environmental impactThanks to our R&D department, we can guarantee REALLY sustainable solutions.

SOLVENT RECOVERY PLANT

The green footprint strongly advocated by Poplast is clearly noticeable, starting from production: the company is equipped with a state-of-the-art solvent recovery plant, capable of abating atmospheric pollutant emissions from the printing process by absorption via activated carbon beds; the solvent retained by the carbon is then recovered through a special regeneration process.
Thanks to the distillation column the plant is provided with, it is possible to regenerate the solvent used to a high degree of purity so that it is again usable in the production lines.

REUSE OF ENERGY SOURCES

The heat required for the operation of the recovery plant is also used to heat the production department in winter, thus ensuring further energy savings. In addition, we produce and use clean energy from PV installations at our site in Castel San Giovanni, Piacenza, which contributes to our company’s energy needs.

THE CHARACTERISTICS OF SUSTAINABLE PACKAGING

For packaging to be truly sustainable, it must be:

  • functionally sustainable: able to guarantee all technical characteristics required by law and necessary for its proper use (strength, workability, transparency, protection, etc.).
  • ecologically sustainable: recyclable or compostable, preferably produced from environmentally-sustainable, renewable raw materials (weight for transport purposes, etc.).
  • economically sustainable: its procurement and use must be cost-effective or the cost involved must be at least equal to other equivalent solutions available in the market.

BIO-BASED FLEXIBLE PACKAGING: ECOLOGICAL AND ECO-SUSTAINABLE

POPLAST Sustainable Solution

Our bio films are made from renewable resources such as residues of cellulose and sugar cane
(minimum quantity: 85%).

They are 100% COMPOSTABLE, i.e. they undergo biological decomposition at a special industrial waste recycling treatment site, leaving no residues in the environment. Certified according to TUV Austria and DIN CERTCO EN 13432 -EN 14995 standards.

FOR INDUSTRIAL “NO-FOOD” PRODUCTS, WE HAVE DEVELOPED SOLUTIONS USING FILMS CONTAINING 30 – 60 % PCR MATERIAL

For these “no-food” applications, the Group has developed Polythene structures from post-consumer recycled material (up to 60 % recycling). Thanks to these structures, the Group provides its customers with solutions in line with the parameters of the Circular Economy.

POPLAST GROUP AS A PACKAGING AMBASSADOR

In 2015, a reflection shared between Edizioni Dativo and Politecnico di Milano leads to the «Ethical Packaging Charter»: an important document which summarizes the 10 Values considered useful to accompany the world of packaging towards a more environmentally conscious future.

Poplast Group, as an ambassador of the Charter, undertakes to operate in strict compliance with the ten points listed in it, spread its meaning in the most suitable way, and promote its values and contents. Find out more

THEY SAY ABOUT US

Italiaimballaggio – an online magazine dedicated to the packaging industry – reports on the latest solutions and technological innovations with regard to sustainable packaging. Massimo Zonca, Board Member of Poplast, was asked for further information on our Centre of Competence dedicated to sustainability.

Here, experts in packaging, innovative materials, recyclability and compostability come together to work in a circular perspective. Our goal is to develop and deliver high-performance, sustainable solutions that comply with the new rules of the Circular Economy.
