Poplast: from now on we are also ISCC PLUS certified

What is ISCC PLUS certification?

ISCC Plus (International Sustainability and Carbon Certification) is a voluntary certification system that covers the implementation and certification of sustainable supply chains that do not impact deforestation and provide for the traceability of the agricultural, forestry, waste and residues of non-bio-renewable raw materials as well as recycled carbon materials.
The certification guarantees compliance with high ecological and social sustainability requirements, the saving of greenhouse gas emissions and the traceability of the entire supply chain.

Poplast joins the ISCC PLUS system through the document ‘ISCC PLUS Chain of Custody Policy’.

The certification allows to demonstrate, through a dedicated management system, the traceability and sustainability of raw materials, intermediate products and final products of the food, feed, technical/chemical, bio-based, biomass production chains for energy applications.

Supply chain certification

To obtain ISCC PLUS each link in the chain of custody must be certified and provide a sustainability declaration (issued by recognised organisations) accompanying the certified material.

This also implies full traceability, throughout the entire supply chain, of the material.

Material characteristics for ISCC PLUS certification

The material may belong to the following categories
– BIO (raw material of organic origin derived from agriculture, forestry, aquaculture, etc.)
– CIRCULAR (raw material deriving from waste/waste subject to a subsequent recovery activity)
– BIO – CIRCULAR (raw material from waste/waste subject to a subsequent recovery activity)
– RENEWABLE (raw material of fossil origin derived from processes using renewable sources

Options allowed for the ISCC PLUS chain of custody

The chain of custody, i.e. the link between sustainability information and materials, can take place with two options: physical segregation or mass balance.
Specifically, in the mass balance, sustainable and non-sustainable materials are mixed but kept separate at the level of documentation. The balance establishes the sustainable share for a product and ensures that, downstream of production, the volumes of outgoing sustainable material do not exceed the volumes of incoming sustainable material.

ISCC-certified products: guarantee of sustainability throughout the supply chain

ISCC certification requires that the product comes from a supply chain in which all stages and all subcontractors are certified, all the way to origin, which is a guarantee of real, traceable sustainability, from raw material to finished product.

Advantages of an ISCC plus certified product

Our customers now have the additional guarantee not only of the actual recyclability of the product, but of its sustainability throughout the entire supply chain, from the raw material.
This also means certifying the reduction of the carbon footprint of our production, which impacts on the overall energy balance of the end user, who can prove the lower ecological impact of his production.

In order to make a product truly green, it is necessary that the entire supply chain that produces it adopts the same criteria and objectives.

Let’s do it together.
