POPLAST at GIFLEX Congress 2025: Shaping the Future of Flexible Packaging

Angels or Demons?

GIFLEX (Flexible Packaging Group), the Italian national association bringing together flexible packaging manufacturers and suppliers, highlighted that flexible packaging represents only 1% of the 15% of all waste. Despite being an advantageous, lightweight, and safe solution for consumer products, it has often become the scapegoat for a broader problem. Education and information are essential, so consumers and customers can make informed choices.

GIFLEX President Alberto Palaveri emphasized a concept we’ve long shared: the power of working as a system. The need emerged, in communications, to pool companies’ commitment to spreading sector culture, generating content that represents the sum and synthesis of diverse expertise.

Furthermore: training, resources, and a multimedia library project to collect all sector-specific content.

The Round Table “What Does the Supply Chain Ask of Politics?” featured presidents of major associations – from Giflex to Acimga, from Unionplast to EUROPEN – in dialogue with Ministry representatives.

A crucial moment to bring the sector’s unified voice to policy-makers, because only through constructive dialogue can we correct distorted perceptions and promote policies based on real data.

At Poplast, this informative and collaborative approach has long been not only shared but actively promoted. How?
Through ongoing educational activities in the community, aimed especially at young people in both primary and secondary schools, designed to provide correct information to new generations both as consumers and as future industry protagonists and technology creators.

Accurate information, careful communication, and focus on youth.
This is how we build together a future that is not only sustainable but valuable for all.
